Android Auto: The Smartphone Is Not Compatible

The Smartphone Is Not Compatible

Google’s Android Auto is making a lot of news right now. Since the latest update to version 7.8, more and more people who use the app are complaining that they can’t connect it to the entertainment system in their car. The company that made the phone and the car doesn’t seem to matter. Google knows about it, and waves of version 8.0 are already being sent out.

Another New Trouble With Android Auto

Google Assistant Driving Mode takes over from Android Auto for phones. Google has shut down the mobile version of Android Auto, which let drivers use the infotainment system even if they didn’t have a compatible car or head unit.

After the confusion about the end of the smartphone panel and the conflict with the black screen for Samsung users, which has now been fixed, it seems that all other users are having problems with version 7.8. If you use a USB cable to connect your phone to your car’s entertainment system, you will get a message saying that your phone is not compatible. The issue with this error message is that the device worked fine before the update.

Some users also say in the related help forum that they are offered an update that they can’t run. Google is already sending out Android Auto version 8.0 over-the-air (OTA) updates in waves (Over The Air). This means that you might not get the update for a few more days. You can find the matching *.apk file at APKMirror if you want to install it at your own risk. If you’re not in such a hurry, you can also check the Google Play Store every so often to see what version you can get. In fact, there are still no reviews that say if this version fixes the problem or not.

Google Is Already Distributing Version 8.0

To our surprise, version 8.0 of Android Auto doesn’t have the new design that was promised, which you can see in the video below. It would be very strange if Mountain View went from version 7 to version 8 without the features that were promised. The new design is probably already there, but Google has to turn it on first. Definitely, the problem with the missing connection has been given more attention than it used to. I’m sure the first people to look at Android Auto 8.0.6233’s code are already trying to figure out what Google really did with it.

Go to “Apps & Notifications” in your settings to update Google Play Services on your Android device. Your Android apps can connect to the internet and talk to Google through Google Play Services. By updating Google Play Services, you can fix problems with apps and speed up your Android device.
